Backups VS Fault Tolerance

Backup refers to making copies of data files so they could be used in the case of data loss. While fault tolerance refers to minimizing the chance of data loss. Backup are necessary even if you have implemented the best fault tolerance system. Data could be lost through human error, wrong input, power outages, theft, sabotage, and natural disaster. Implementing an appropriate backup plan will ensure that your business will be up and running without major data loss.

Several backup methods are available. The cheapest is to backup your data to a CD, but this method is the least structured.
Incremental backup is a better way where full backup is made first and then incremental backups are made the frequency of backups are tied to how often data changes. When data is lost the full backup is restored first, followed by each incremental backup after the full backup. This could become very tedious job if you have several incremental backups.
Differential Backup is the fastest way to restore data since you only need to restore the full backup and only the last differential backup. The differential backup contains all the changes since the last full backup.

We at Tech Saviors can help you in selecting the best method for backups that suit your business. Contact us for a free consultation.
